Starting kitesurf can look intimidating from the beach, but the first steps are structured. You do not begin by riding a board. You begin by understanding wind, safety and how to control the kite without rushing.
What happens in a first course
The progression usually follows four stages: kite control on land, body drag in the water, water start with the board and longer rides. Body drag is the bridge between theory and real navigation: you learn to move through the water, recover position and trust the kite before adding the board.
At S-LOOP we use certified instructors, suitable Duotone/ION equipment, radio helmet coaching and boat support when needed. That means the lesson can happen in the right area of the bay, with corrections in real time instead of distant shouting from the beach.
How long does it take?
Everyone is different, but most beginners need several sessions to reach independent first rides. Wind quality, body awareness and consistency matter more than brute strength. The goal of a first course is not to rush a photo: it is to build safe habits that make the next sessions easier.
Why Le Saline helps
Le Saline has space, sandy access and a side-on thermal wind that usually pushes you back toward shore rather than away from it. You can read the full context in the Le Saline spot guide and the safety approach in kitesurf safety.
If you are choosing between kite and wing, this comparison helps: kitesurf or wing foil?. Ready to start? See our kitesurf lessons in Olbia or contact us.
