Le Saline is our home spot: a wide sandy bay a few minutes from Olbia, used for kitesurf, wing foil and SUP. It is easy to reach, open to the right summer breeze and forgiving enough for beginners when lessons are run properly.
Where it is
The beach is near Via Isola Padron Fiaso, between Olbia and Murta Maria. Airport, ferry port, town, restaurants and accommodation are all close, so it works well for a short course as much as for a full wind holiday. For travel details, read how to get to Le Saline.
Why it works for learning
The key is the local thermal scirocco. On sunny stable days it usually blows side-on: across the beach with a small push back toward shore. That direction is much safer than offshore wind for first body drags, water starts and wing practice.
The entry is straight from sand with no rocks in the teaching area. The water gets deep quickly, so we teach with boat support rather than pretending it is a shallow lagoon. The combination is realistic and controlled: real sea, enough space, and an instructor close to you.
What you can do here
Kitesurf lessons move from kite control to body drag, water start and first rides. Wing foil starts with wing handling and balance before the foil enters the session. On windless or light days, SUP keeps the water part of the holiday alive.
When to come
Late spring to early autumn is the main season for reliable thermal wind. May, June, July, August and September can all work, with different balances between wind, crowds and temperature. The detailed month-by-month view is in when to kitesurf in Olbia.
